Heartache as ‘hard-working’ dad, 51, dies after wall collapses in Tipperary and tributes pour for ‘gent’ amid HSA
A MAN has sadly died in a workplace accident in Co Tipperary.
Sean Ryan, 51, is understood to have passed away after a wall he was working on in Cashel collapsed yesterday.
Gardai and emergency services responded to the accident on land near the village of Rossmore and the dad-of-three was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) confirmed that they are aware of the incident and have launched an investigation.
Sean was well-known in the area, with locals describing him as a “pure gentleman”.
He had previously worked as a haulier for Martin Ryan and Sons in Cappamore, with the company describing him as a “valued” colleague and friend.
Paying tribute, they said: “The management and staff of Martin Ryan Haulage wish to express our deepest sympathy to the family.
“Sean was a valued former colleague and a long-time friend whose kindness, loyalty and good humour will always be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him.”
Another former employer said: “Sean worked for us here in Ballagh a few months ago, he was a gentleman, hard working and always with a smile and time for a chat.
“Wishing you all peace, comfort and strength in the days ahead.”
Local Fine Gael Councillor John Crosse said: “Our sincere sympathy to the Ryan family on the passing of Sean. Sincere sympathy also to extended Family members, Relatives, Neighbours, and Friends.
“Thinking of you all at this sad time, Rest in peace Sean.”
Sean is predeceased by his infant son Jamie and his grandparents.
A death notice reads: “Sadly missed by his heartbroken partner Marie, daughter Isabelle and twin sons Tommy and Danny, his father Tommy, mother Anne, brothers T.J. and Brendan, sisters Noelette, Anita, Carol, Patricia and Sinéad, Marie’s parents Mike and Breda and her brothers and sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and his wide circle of friends.”
