Gardaí are seeking witnesses and camera footage following the incident in Whitegate Village on Friday afternoon
Gardaí have arrested a man in his 30s following an assault near a local playground in East Cork on Friday.

The incident, which took place shortly after 4pm, involved a man, also aged in his 30s, being assaulted and threatened near the local playground in Whitegate Village.

The victim managed to flee the scene without serious injury.

The man arrested is currently being detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at a garda station in Cork.

Gardaí appeal for witnesses and footage gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Motorists and others with camera or dashcam footage from the Whitegate Village area between 3pm and 6pm on Friday, September 4, are also urged to contact investigating gardaí.
