At least 4 dead & child seriously injured in horror stabbing spree as manhunt launched for ‘violent’ man on the run

AT least four people have been killed and a child is fighting for their life after a knifeman went on a stabbing spree in Louisiana.

Kaegan Jude Solet, 47, has been identified as a person of interest after cops found “multiple deceased victims” in different homes.

A child was rushed to hospital in critical condition after suffering multiple stab wounds.

Victims were found near the 200 block of Ashland Drive in Houma, a town around 60 miles outside of New Orleans.

An urgent manhunt is now underway to find Solet, who has been arrested for a slew of stabbings – including one fatal – in the last decade, but never convicted.

Police say he was charged with the murder of Kemple Paul Scott Lovell, a homeless man found dead with several stab wounds in Houma, in 2019.

Solet was caught after people received an anonymous tip, which led cops to find him hiding inside a shed behind a mobile home.

His hiding place then was just one block west of yesterday’s deadly crime scene.

A grand jury eventually failed to indict Solet due to a lack of evidence.

Attorney Jason Dagate said: “Basically, the evidence we had that was presented to the grand jury wasn’t enough for them to come back with an indictment at this point and time.

“They made a decision to pretermit it, which means more information is needed to fully investigate.

“At this time we completely agree with the grand jury.”

Solet was also charged with attempted murder in December 2019 after a woman was found lying in a pool of blood inside Houma’s Red Carpet Inn.

Paramedics found Cindy Boudreaux, 59, inside the motel gasping, “don’t let me die,” as they rushed to save her.

She claimed that a man had broken into her room and attacked her with a wine bottle before stabbing her multiple times.

Boudreaux initially claimed her boyfriend, William Naquin, attacked her but later accused Solet.

Claiming to be homeless at the time, Solet said he had spent the previous night with Boudreaux but was on the streets the day of the attack.

CCTV footage and the fact that Solet’s DNA was found inside the hotel room were used as evidence that he was responsible.

But despite being arrested and charged with attempted murder, he was found not guilty in November 2021, per the Houma Courier.

It comes after a 63-year-old woman was killed during a shocking knife rampage on the Louisiana Tech University campus in November 2023.

Jacoby Johnson, a former student, faces one count of second‑degree murder and three counts of attempted second‑degree murder. 

Police say he attacked four women outside the Lambright Sports & Wellness Center, killing local artist Annie Richardson and critically injuring two others.

Johnson was offered a deal to plead guilty to murder in exchange for dropping the three other counts, but rejected it.

Multiple victims say they were never informed the plea deal was on the table.

The trial has been delayed repeatedly and a date is yet to be set.

A second‑degree murder conviction in Louisiana carries a mandatory life sentence.

Attempted second‑degree murder is punishable by up to 50 years in prison.
