Schoolboy dead after two buses crash into one another as other pupils & teacher left fighting for their lives

A YOUNG schoolboy has died and dozens more are injured after a devastating bus crash.

The tragedy unfolded on Wednesday afternoon when two buses collided head-on near Hebertshausen in Upper Bavaria, Germany.

According to police, all 35 people involved in the smash were injured – many of them children.

One boy died at the scene despite desperate attempts to save him.

Two other children and a teacher are still fighting for their lives in critical condition.

The horror crash happened at around 12:30pm on State Road 2339 between Ampermoching and Ottershausen.

A public bus is believed to have collided with an oncoming tour bus carrying schoolchildren and teachers from two second-grade classes at Haimhausen Elementary School.

The impact occurred on a bend in the road, where speed limits are set at 60 km/h in one direction and 50 km/h in the other.

Emergency services including four rescue helicopters were deployed to the scene along with around 15 ambulances and eight emergency doctors, who rushed to the scene.

The road was immediately shut down, causing major traffic chaos in the area.

Amid swirling rumours online, District Administrator Stefan Löwl (CSU) confirmed that both drivers were tested for alcohol at the scene – and the results were negative.

He stressed this clarification after false claims about drunk driving began circulating on social media.

The exact cause of the crash remains unclear.

“It was a very grim scene,” said police as the aftermath of the horror bus crash in Upper Bavaria continued to unfold.

Around 100 emergency personnel were still on site by the afternoon, with the crash scene cordoned off across a wide area as rescue teams worked for hours in the wake of the tragedy.

Relatives of those involved are being supported at a psychosocial gathering point set up in the Ampermoching district.

The municipality of Haimhausen has also opened a hotline for families seeking information.

Prosecutors in Munich have now ordered an expert report as investigators work to piece together what led to the fatal collision.

It comes just after a family of four was among five people dead after a bus ploughed into multiple vehicles on a Virginia highway.

Dmitri and Ecaterina Doncev and their two children, Emily, 14, and Mark, 7, were killed in the crash – the family had been travelling to a wedding with a car full of homemade desserts.

They were driving from Massachusetts to South Carolina for the celebration when the collision happened, according to the Associated Press.
