Two passenger trains crash into each other injuring three and leaving carriages smashed & derailed
TWO passenger trains crashed into each other leaving three people injured and carriages derailed.
The crash happened in Poland at around 6pm when an Intercity service and a local Polregio train slammed into each other near the station.
A carriage was derailed in the impact, with emergency services confirming injuries.
Around 200 passengers were travelling across both trains.
Officer Martin Halasz told local media that three people were injured in the collision.
More than a dozen fire brigades were deployed as crews worked urgently at the scene.
A travel operations spokesperson said the last carriage on the Intercity train had derailed along with “part of the Polregio train’s electric multiple unit.”
He said the injured passengers suffered bruises and dislocations, adding: “These people were provided with first aid on site,” he told TVN24.
He also confirmed that alternative transport was being organised for stranded passengers.
Technical teams were deployed immediately and are currently working at the crash site.
He said: “The commission will investigate the causes of the incident.”
Rail traffic on the Piła-Bydgoszcz line has been suspended following the collision.
It was confirmed services will only resume once it is determined whether there was a derailment or infrastructure damage.
It comes after one person was killed in a horror train collision in Germany.
Two freight trains crashed into each other forcing carriages to plunge off a bridge in Munich last month.
One person was rushed to hospital in critical condition and later died from their injuries.
