Chief suspect in Limerick murder of Brazilian woman, 33, found dead on rocks at castle hours after horrific stabbing
THE man suspected of murdering Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa was found dead on rocks near a castle just hours after her body was discovered.
The body of Brazilian native Jady, 33, was found in her home in the Carlton House apartments in Limerick city on Friday morning.
It’s believed she had been knifed to death.
Work friends who she was due to meet that morning went to her apartment after she didn’t turn up at her job and made the grim discovery.
Gardai launched a manhunt to track down the main suspect — fellow Brazilian national Judismar Wesley Batista.
However, the search was scaled back after the recovery of a body.
Emergency personnel had been notified a man’s body was seen on rocks in the vicinity of Blackrock Castle in Cork at 7pm on Friday, just 12 hours after Jady’s body was found in her Limerick home.
Gardai sealed the area off and retained a presence at the scene.
Members of the Irish Coast Guard were called in and they recovered the body with the assistance of gardai.
A post-mortem was expected to be carried out by Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster yesterday.
Cops were able to determine that the dead man was Batista.
Gardai said they do not suspect foul play at this time.
According to sources, he had travelled by public transport to Cork city.
Ms Pereira Rosa worked as a cleaner in Limerick and was popular with her work colleagues and clients.
She was originally from Sorocaba in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo.
Many tributes have been paid to Jady, with the murder victim described as generous, kind and joyful, and as someone who helped others when they needed help.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by her friends with over €20,000 raised so far.
Her employer has generously agreed to cover the cost of transporting her body from Ireland to Brazil, but once she arrives home her family will still face significant costs.
On the fundraising page her friends said money raised will go towards “helping give Jady a dignified farewell in Brazil” and towards her funeral costs.
They said: “Today we come together for a reason no one should ever have to face.
“Our dear Jady, a Brazilian who was living in Limerick, Ireland, had her life tragically taken.
“In this moment of immense grief, we want to help her family give her the dignified farewell she deserves in her home country.
“Jady’s employer will cover the cost of transporting her body from Ireland to Brazil.
“However, there are still important expenses that must be covered, transporting her from the airport in Sao Paulo to her hometown, as well as the wake and burial costs.
“Thank you for your support, your prayers and compassion for Jady’s family.
“May she rest in peace, and may her loved ones find strength and comfort through this heartbreaking loss.”
