‘I’m devastated’ says RTE Today Show chef as she confirms sudden closure of popular cafe with TV star pals left shocked
A POPULAR Irish chef and RTE Today Show regular has confirmed she has been forced to close her cafe.
Mags Roche has been running the Little Acorn Cafe in Co Wicklow for the last six years.

However, in an emotional video this week Mags confirmed that the “very busy” cafe will close on August 23, 2026.
The resident chef at Ballybeg House said the announcement is the “hardest” video she has ever made and one she “never imagined” doing.
Mags revealed that the building in Baltinglass, that houses Little Acorn Cafe, has been put up for sale.
She told followers on her Instagram @mag_roche: “Our lease is not being renewed because the building is for sale.
“So, the cafe has to close. We don’t have a choice.
“It’s devasting. I’m devastated, my staff are devasted and my customers will be as well.”
Mags added: “This has all happened very quickly and completely unexpectedly, so please bear with us over the coming weeks as we try to process everything and figure out what the next chapter looks like.”
But the TV regular reassured customers the cafe “isn’t disappearing” following the heartbreaking blow.
She promised: “There will be a next step. Just not sure what it’s going to be but Little Acorn is alive and kicking and well in my heart and it will continue to be.”
The chef added a heartfelt thanks to her staff past and present and to the supportive customers who have visited the cafe over the last six years.
Fans have been left shocked by the sudden closure of the popular Wicklow spot.
Irish model turned radio star Rozanna Purcell is among those reeling over the news.
Rozanna wrote online: “Very sad to hear this. Wishing you and all the team the best.”
The Today Show’s Beauty Expert Sharna Malone also added: “I’m so sorry to hear this Mags, wishing you all the best for the next chapter.”
Host Sinead Kennedy also added: “Mags, I’m so sorry to hear this. So excited to see what you do next and so looking forward to having you back in the kitchen in September.
“You’re one in a million!”
