A body was found in a wooded area as police confirmed the family of missing teenager Jasmine Ferguson, 16, had been notified

Heartfelt tributes have poured in for a missing teenage girl after a body was discovered in woodland following a desperate search, leaving an entire community grief-stricken. Emergency services rushed to a wooded area near McLachlan Street in Stenhousemuir on Thursday, September 3.

Police received a report of the discovery at around 4.15pm. Although formal identification has yet to take place, officers confirmed that the family of Jasmine Ferguson, who had been reported missing from the town two days prior, had been informed.

The 16 year old was last spotted at around 2.30pm on Tuesday, September 1, in the town’s Lamond View. It is understood that officers do not believe the death to be suspicious.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course. Locals have been left devastated by the tragic find, with social media flooded with heartfelt tributes from family and friends reeling from the heartbreaking news, reports the Daily Record.

Addressing Jasmine’s parents, Lexi and Darren, Daryll Courtney said: “I’ve absolutely no words! You know I love you and I’m always here! I can’t believe I’m saying this, sleep tight ma wee pal.”
