Boy, 3, dies after falling 65ft from balcony of family home as cops arrest parents in Cyprus

A THREE-year-old boy has died after plunging from the sixth-floor balcony of an apartment block in Cyprus.

Police have arrested his parents on suspicion of causing death by negligence following the horrific tragedy in Nicosia.

The little boy plummeted 65ft from his family home on Andrea Mitropoulou Street at around 6:15pm on Saturday.

His father frantically called for an ambulance, reported Cypriot paper Philenews.

Emergency services scrambled to the scene and rushed the youngster to Nicosia general hospital.

But the little boy passed away from his injuries at around 6:50pm.

The child, aged three years and nine months, would have turned four in December.

Cops have launched a probe into the death with a post-mortem being carried out today.

The dad, 32 and mum, 33, were arrested on the night of the boy’s death and are being held in custody.

Both are awaiting trial on charges of causing death through a reckless, careless or dangerous act.

Cops will question the parents across their five-day detention.

Local media reports that the parents may share another child who lived with them in the apartment.

The tragedy echoes the horror fall of a Brit boy who plunged to his death from a hotel window in Cyprus over the summer.

The youngster died at a luxury Cyprus hotel after allegedly slipping from his dad’s arms and falling 33ft to the veranda below.

The toddler’s father, 37, was arrested on suspicion of negligence following the holiday tragedy in Chloraka, Paphos.

The heartbroken dad has begged for the charges against him to be dropped and filed an official claim for dismissal.

Cops believe he placed the toddler on the windowsill on July 12 while waiting for the lift at the King Evelthon Hotel, thinking the window was closed.

He was arrested and in custody for eight days – before being released to attend the funeral of his child back in the UK.
