Motorcyclist aged in 30s dies after horror crash on Cork road as gardai appeal for witnesses

A MOTORCYCLIST aged in his 30s has died after a horror crash last night.
The collision involving a jeep and a motorcycle happened on the N20 at Castlewrixon, Ballyhea, Co. Cork at around 8pm.
Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead.
His body has been conveyed to the mortuary at Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
A Garda Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been appointed to support the family of the deceased.
The coroner has been notified.
An adult male driver of a jeep (aged in his 80s) was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening at the time.
The road is currently closed pending examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Local diversions are in place.
A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
“Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N20 near Castlewrixon, Ballyhea, Co. Cork between 7:15pm and 8:00pm on Saturday 4th July 2026 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Mallow Garda Station on (022) 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
