A teenage boy who died following a hit-and-run incident in Co Clare on Friday night has been named locally as Bryan Lowe who was 16 years old.
Shortly after 11pm on Friday, gardaí and emergency found a boy, aged 16, who had been on a scrambler e-bike, unresponsive by the roadside on the L3050 at Cottage Cross near Clonlara.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second vehicle involved in the incident failed to remain at the scene.
The scene was preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are asking people who may have dash-cam footage to make it available to them
The coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.
Speaking to RTÉ News, Bryan Lowe’s mother, Crystal Lowe, said she and his two sisters are “devastated” and added that “Bryan will be sadly missed”.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Road users who were in the Clonlara area at the time and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.
