Jonathan O’Brien has been using social media to share updates on Lee’s progress
A FRIEND of Lee Reeves has shared an update in the recovery progress of the popular Limerick boxer.
After being knocked out in a fight in the 3Arena, the 31-year-old has remained in hospital in Dublin since Saturday, August 1.
Former boxer and good friend of Lee’s, Jonathan O’Brien, has been using social media to share updates on Lee’s progress.
Jonathan posted a “quick update” on the Limerick man’s healthcare this Tuesday morning, September 29, after speaking with Lee’s father, Tony, who spent “all day yesterday” in the hospital.
“They’re going to be sitting down on Wednesday with all of the doctors and they’re doing the operation on Lee on Thursday morning,” Jonathan shared.
“It’s all set and booked for Thursday morning.”
Over the past few weeks, Jonathan has expressed his frustration online after the planned operation on Lee was postponed multiple times.
He previously explained that the operation will “put a plate back in Lee’s head where he had to get the skull removed to release the pressure from the brain from the trauma of the boxing”.
Jonathan asked his followers to pray for Lee’s safe recovery: “The power of prayers is amazing. I want yous all to say massive prayers everyday for Lee until Thursday, until this operation.”
He added: “We need him to get through this operation and come back to some kind of normality for us all.”
Jonathan explained that Lee is going to need “a lot of support going forward,” and asked for his followers to keep pushing the GoFundMe page, set up to help Lee’s family manage the healthcare and recovery costs.
He thanked everyone who has already donated and helped spread the word.
