Man in his 40s fighting for life in hospital after ‘attack by four men’ in popular tourist spot

A MAN has been left fighting for his life after an attack at a popular London tourist spot.

The victim, aged in his 40s, was assaulted by a group of around four men on South Bank in the early hours of Sunday.

He was knocked to the ground before being rushed to hospital where he remans in a critical condition.

A police cordon is in place on the steps outside the Southbank Centre, near Waterloo Station, with forensic officers at the scene.

No arrests have been made but the investigation is ongoing.

A Met Police statement said: “Around 00:15hrs on Sunday, 14 June, officers attended Belvedere Road, South Bank, following reports of an assault.

“The victim, aged in his 40s, was assaulted by a group of around four men, who knocked him to the ground and assaulted him. He was taken to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

“No arrests have been made at this stage, and officers are making urgent enquiries.
