One Kilmallock local told Limerick Live: “I cannot get over the weather here today, my windows are nearly broken in.”
They added: “It is really, really bad. It’s very windy compared to yesterday.”
Met Éireann issued the weather warning for Limerick on Monday, before updating it this Tuesday morning.
The Status Yellow wind warning also affects Clare, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford while a separate wind warning for Galway, Mayo and Sligo came into effect at 3pm.
The meteorological service warned of “very strong and gusty southeasterly winds”.
The potential impacts of the weather event include wave overtopping and flooding on coasts due to a combination of spring tides, surge and very strong onshore winds, difficult travelling conditions, some fallen trees and branches, and debris and loose objects being displaced.
The weather warning for Limerick is valid until 9pm this Tuesday.
A Status Yellow rain warning is also in place for Cork, Kerry, and Waterford.
Met Éireann warned of “spells of heavy rain”.
The potential impacts include localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions, and poor visibility.
