‘Multi-vehicle’ crash on busy Dublin’s M50 cause traffic chaos amid major warning for Irish Rail passengers

IRISH drivers have been hit with a major delay warning after a multi-vehicle collision on Dublin’s M50 this morning.

And rail commuters have been warned over “reduced capacity” on a number of busy routes this morning.

A pile-up on the M50 southbound J4 Ballymun and J5 M50/N2 has caused delays for motorists this morning.

Traffic chiefs warned motorists of “some delays” following the multi-vehicle collision this morning.

The incident took place shortly after 7:54am this morning on Dublin’s M50 southbound between J4 Ballymun and J5 M50/N2 in Dublin.

In a statement, Transport Infrastructure Ireland said: “Some delays to your journey may occur.

“When approaching the collision location, drive with caution, reduce your speed and please obey instructions from emergency services.”

Drivers were also warned that some delays might occur as a result of a vehicle breakdown on M50 northbound.

The incident occurred between J4 Ballymun and J3 M1/M50 in Dublin.

And northbound drivers are facing commute pain across the Dublin motorway this morning.

Motorists have been warned to “reduce your speed” when approaching Dublin’s M50 northbound between J7 M50/N4 and J6 M50/N3 due to debris on road.

Lane one has been affected, traffic chiefs have confirmed.

TII added: “When approaching the hazard area drive with caution and reduce your speed.”

Elsewhere in the country, drivers on busy M7/N7 eastbound have been also warned of delays due to “debris on road.”

The incident took place on M7/N7 eastbound between J4 Rathcoole and J3 Citywest, near Saggart.

Meanwhile, Iarnrod Eireann has announced reductions in train capacity for a number of services this morning.

They said the following services will operate with reduced capacity this morning:

• 06:24 Greystones/Howth
• 08:03 Howth/Bray
• 09:25 Bray/Malahide
• 06:40 Howth/Bray
• 08:15 Bray/Howth
• 09:40 Howth/Bray
• 06:52 Connolly/Malahide
• 07:30 Malahide/Bray
• 08:55 Bray/Howth – MH

Irish rail chiefs also confirmed the 7.19am Newbridge/GCD service is operating approximately 14 minutes behind schedule this morning and will terminate at Connolly.

And the 8.31am GCD/Hazelhatch service will start at Connolly station as a result.
